I just wanted to post instructions on configuring the MegaRAID Storage Manager(MSM) for people with hardware raid cards or host bus adapters. They are now going for $30-$45 on ebay, so it may be of some use to people that don't want to deal with software RAID on Linux Mint. And as SSD's can be had for the price of a thumb drive, hardware RAID becomes more attractive.
The drivers are, and have always been, kernel native. It just works(tm).Little known fact, SAS is interoperable with SATA. And you can flash a Host Bus Adapter(HBA) from being a HBA(IT Firmware) to a RAID card(IR Firmware) at will. Which means you can get hardware RAID at less than the price of some motherboard frying port replicator from China, and much less hassle than your motherboards inevitable software RAID.
